Summary

This resource has introduced the concept of digital literacies, and the importance these will play in an increasingly digital society and economy.

One key aspect of digital literacies is the acknowledgement of multiple literacies influenced by societal and technological contexts.

Literate and illiterate also cannot be considered a binary status. Instead we must consider literacy as a spectrum, with literacy developing overtime from lower level functional skills to higher level characteristics that influence our identity.

Two frameworks for examining digital literacies were also introduced, although others do exist. Further information is available online to examine these in greater detail and look at ways to use them to develop the digital literacy of staff and students.
